Golden Bliss: A Delectable Twist on Potato Casserole Perfection!
Ingredients:
- 4 large potatoes
- 500ml of heavy cream
- 1 egg
- ½ cup grated cheese, Münster or Mozzarella
- ¼ cup grated cheese for gratin
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp pepper
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp nutmeg
- 1 onion
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- ½ lb Turkey Ham or your choice of ham
- ½ lb Havarty or Münster cheese slices
Preparation:
- Wash and peel the potatoes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Slice the potatoes very thinly and set aside.
- In a skillet, sauté the onion with a little olive oil for approximately 5-7 minutes until completely transparent. Once done, let it cool.
- In a bowl, add the heavy cream, egg, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and nutmeg.
- Add the sautéed onion and set aside. Once all the ingredients are mixed, add the grated cheese.
- Finally, add the sliced potatoes and incorporate them perfectly.
- In a baking dish, layer in the following order: potato mixture, a bit of sauce, a layer of ham, and cheese. Continue layering until the baking dish is full.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for one hour.
- Take out of the oven and remove the aluminum foil. Sprinkle ¼ cup of grated cheese on top to gratin. Bake for an additional 20 minutes until it is nicely browned.
