VALENTINE’S DAY TORTILLAS

Love at First Bite: Heart-Shaped Tortillas for a Tasty Twist!

Ingredients:

 

  • Ready Masa for Tortillas (you can find it at our Tortillería in our stores)
  • Food Coloring
  • Any side you like for delicious tacos

Preparation:

 

  1. Knead dough by hand for about 5 minutes. 
  2. Separate equally in 2 parts. 
  3. One of the doughs is going to be plain & the other add 5 drops of red food coloring and mix in until it’s even colored pink.
  4. Use a heart shaped cookie cutter and cut some hearts in the center of the pink masa and plain masa.
  5. Switch the pink center hearts and plain center hearts to create bicolor tortillas. 
  6. Use your tortilla press to shape them. 
  7. Heat a cast iron skillet or traditional comal over medium heat.
  8. Place a tortilla in the preheated pan or comal and cook until it turns light brown and slightly puffy, about 30 seconds to 1 m minute.
  9. Turn tortilla over to brown on second side, about 30 second or a minute more.
  10. Repeat with each piece dough
  11. Keep cooked tortillas covered with a towel to stay warm and moist until ready to serve.
